BRINGING ANDROID AVENUE

TO LIFE WITH MULTI-USER AR

On a sunny winters week in Barcelona, we had the pleasure of teaming up with Google and being a part of Android Avenue at Barcelona's Mobile World Conference tasked with the opportunity to showcase the power of Google's AR core on pixel. In collaboration with design agency Brandfuel, we set our sights on creating a multi-user AR experience, demonstrating the social and collaborative AR potential that Google has to offer.

The experience is based around a physical plinth, allowing users to access the AR app via a supplied Pixel phone. A miniature Android avenue fills the plinth, allowing the user to explore and decorate the street using a number of fun animated elements, they can place people in the shops, cars and bikes on the roads, art sculptures, seagulls and planes flying round, the street is theirs to design.

Other users can see the street evolving and add to it themselves. The application utilised Google’s ARCore Cloud anchors to allow all connected devices to share the same augmented space and track objects in real-time.

The key feature of this project was to get multiple users experience the same Augmented space in AR. This is a feature that has great potential and could have many use cases in many different industries, if you have an idea or a concept you think this technology could utilities, please get in touch with one of our team.
